Discover Battery AES 42-48-6650 > 48 Volt 6.65kWh (138AH) Lithium Iron Battery
The Discover AES Lithium Iron Battery 42-48-6650 is a single 48 volt battery, with a rated storage capacity of 6,650 watt-hours (138 Amp Hour). Mulitple batteries, up to 10 max, can be tied in parallel for higher capacity battery banks.
The on board Battery Management System (BMS) monitors cell and battery voltage, battery current, temperature, and state of charge. The BMS also performs balancing of the individual cells, micro-managing the charging of each cell individually. The BMS sounds a buzzer when fault limits are reached, reports a fault, and then will shut the battery down after a delay of 120 seconds.
Voltage on Li-Iron batteries holds steady over a wide state of charge, allowing the system to operate at a healthy battery voltage even when the batteries are heavily discharged down to a state of 20% or lower; allowing for a greater amount of usable power in a given package.
The Li-Ion batteries have a narrower temperature operating range, and are best used in environments at typical room temperatures. Backwoods does NOT recommend using this type of battery in a cold environment.

The VICTRON card is used to interface the AES battery bank with Victron inverter and charger systems. The SLRK card is used to interface the AES battery bank with Sol-Ark inverter and charger systems. The 42-48-6650 and 44-24-2800 batteries will communicate directly to Xanbus devices from Schneider XW and SW inverters and charge controls. The 44-48-3000 needs the LYNK and Xanbus card to communicate with Schneider equipment.

A connection to the AES batteries can be made with the Discover LYNK© monitor and gateway. The LYNK© has a battery state of charge meter on its face for quick reference when used as a lead replacement battery. This will be much more accurate than the battery monitors supplied with most inverters. LYNK© enables closed loop communications providing adaptive, real time interaction between the Discover AES LiFePO4 battery and connected inverter system. Remote reporting of battery status is available through the inverter monitoring and web services.
